Spalding/Spelling We will test on 30 new words and 10 review words every week. On Thursdays we will have a pretest. Those who get 100% on the pretest will not have to take the Friday test. We will also test on 30 phonograms on Fridays. On the first Friday of the month we have a test over all 70 phonograms.
Reading/Book Reports This week we will read Susan B. Anthony. We will do a reading and vocabulary test on Thursday. The grades for this week's test will also count as a social studies grade. Please go over the vocabulary words with your child.
Language I am hoping the templates and outlines are helping your children write paragraphs for their animal reports. For the rest of the year we will be working on writing and other language concepts.
Math We will work on simplifying expressions, multiplying three or more factors, tenths, and prime numbers.
Science We will continue our unit on matter. The test will be Wednesday, April 25th. We will go over the material in class prior to the test.
Social Studies None
Other I am looking forward to reading your child's report and seeing the projects when they come in. It is always amazing how creative they can be and how far they have come this year. There is no book report for May, only a poem. If you would like to order language and/or math summer skills books, I recommend ordering the second grade level. Let me know if you need me to email the form to you.
